A brief word on Adobe:
Adobe Systems was founded in 1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke after leaving Xerox to further develop and sell the Postsctipt Page Description Language. Apple licensed Postscript for use in its Laser Writer products which was one of the major factors in the Desktop Publishing revolution. In the mid 1980s, Adobe released Illustrator for the Mac which was far superior to the Mac Draw application, enabling users to draw with bezier curves. In 1989, Adobe followed this up with Photoshop which dominated the market and has become its flagship product.
In 2005, Adobe acquired Macromedia who were deemed to be Adobe's major competitor.
