A brief on Cisco

Cisco Systems was founded in 1984 by Len Bosack, Sandy Lerner and Richard Troiano. Bosack and Lerner were a married couple who worked as Computer Operations staff at Stanford University. Cisco were the first commercially successful company to sell routers that supported multiple networking protocols and derived their name from the city in which they lived: San Francisco. Throughout the course of Cisco's early trading, they acquired other companies to bring in external talent and have had more success than their competitors in intergrating and growing the revenue of their acquisitions in the fields of LAN Switching, Enterprise VOIP and Home Networking. At the height of the Dot Com boom in the late 1990s, Cisco was the most valuable company in the world. Cisco have gained notoriety through branching out into the fields of Ethernet Switching, Remote Access, Branch Office Routers, ATM Networking, Security and IP Telephony amongst others. Cisco's current Business Tagline is "Welcome to the Human Network".

In 2003 Cisco acquired Linksys

In 2009 Cisco released Cisco Spam and Virus blocker, pushing the company's range of Networking and Security Products ever forward into the Small Business sector.
