A brief on ESET

ESET is an IT security company that has worldwide branches and was founded in 1992 when two private companies decided to merge. Their first product in 1998 was NOD, an Antivirus program written for workstations running MS-DOS and was quickly superseded by NOD32 for Windows, with version 2.0 released in 2003. After some time and research, ESET released ESET Smart Security in 2007 for all Windows platforms which combined NOD32 with AntiSpam and personal firewall functions. ESET launched a media campaign in 2008/2009 to increase its market presence as quite a lot of the general public had never encountered their products, although ESET had already gained a lot of respect in the field of IT support engineers and IT systems administrators. ESET's latest version of the Smart Security Suite is now at version 4.0 and supports all platforms of Windows from 2000 upwards. ESET's products are regularly tested by AntiVirus regulators such as AV-Comparitives, AV-Test and Virus Bulletin and is subsequently the first company to receive 54 VB100 awards from Virus Bulletin and has not missed a single threat during tests in the last six years.

In 2008/2009, ESET introduced Mobile Antivirus for Windows Mobile users which also provides AntiSpam filtering for SMS messages.
